AtkinsRéalis is one of the world's leading providers of engineering professional consulting and support services with offices across Ireland and is currently seeking a Principal Engineer – Utilities to join the Transportation team based in Dublin, Dundalk, Cork or Galway office.

AtkinsRéalis is offering a unique role for an enthusiastic and ambitious individual to kick-start a utilities team within the transportation side of the business which is responsible for delivering some of the largest infrastructure projects in the country including DART+ and MetroLink. The candidate will be responsible for the coordination and design delivery of utility infrastructure upgrades required for linear transportation projects. The successful candidate will join a dynamic, ambitious and rapidly growing team with excellent career prospects.

Your role

  • Act as the primary liaison with clients, utility providers, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and approvals.
  • Lead project teams to deliver projects within agreed scope, timeframes and budgets.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with utility diversions and new installations.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless delivery of utility-related works.
  • Monitor and report on design progress, risks, and issues to project leadership and clients.
  • Undertaking checking of design deliverables/outputs.
  • Providing technical guidance and support and mentoring to less experienced project managers, engineers or technicians.
  • Business Development.

About you

  • Chartered Engineer with relevant experience in the utilities sector designing and constructing utility services projects.
  • Relevant Level 8 degree or Higher level qualification in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of Irish utility regulations, codes, and approval processes.
  • Knowledge of various contract types (FIDIC, NEC, Public Works, Irish Water) and experience in Contract Administration.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of safety and health regulations with regard to the design process.
  • Relevant experience in a similar role.
