The team from AtkinsRéalis Ireland was delighted to win the medium project award at the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE), ROI Regional Hub Annual Dinner in the Marker Hotel Dublin on Friday 28th February.

The award recognises excellence in structural engineering for medium sized projects and was awarded to AtkinsRealis for the deep retrofit and refurbishment of 1970’s office building, Tom Johnson House in Dublin 4. The refurbished building is now the headquarters of the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications.

Richard Dawson, Associate Director at AtkinsRéalis, who accepted the award on behalf of the company said; “It was an honour to pick up this award on behalf of my AtkinsRéalis colleagues who contributed to its successful delivery, and the collaborative working relationships fostered between the OPW client and project partner teams. The deep retrofit and refurbishment has both significantly reduced energy consumption by 75-85% and increased the lifespan of the building by at least 50 years.”
