AtkinsRéalis Ireland was delighted to facilitate a recent tour of the airside environment at Dublin Airport by transition year students from Edmund Rice College.
The tour provided an insight into how the airfield is managed, including how runways are monitored for weather conditions, how the airport responds to fire and medical emergencies, and how ground vehicles communicate with the control tower. The most exciting part of the day for the students was being driven down the active South Runway.
Thanks to Odhran McCann for taking the time to give the tour and creating memories for the students that will last a lifetime.
AtkinsRéalis was recently appointed by daa to provide civil and airfield engineering design services at Dublin and Cork airports as part of a €2.9b Capital Investment Programme.
