
AtkinsRéalis were appointed by the Railway Procurement Agency (RPA) as Building Services Design Engineers for a new underground substation located in O’ Connell Street, Dublin 1. The new substation is part of the enabling works for Metro North and is intended to replace the existing Luas and ESB substation which is located north of the Daniel O’ Connell monument on O’ Connell Street, Dublin 1. This new substation shall house both the ESB and Luas substation equipment and shall provide power for the Luas Service on the Red Line. The general building services installation comprised of a lighting installation incorporating emergency lighting, low voltage power, fire alarm, intruder alarm, earthing and bonding and telecommunications. As part of our scope of works AtkinsRéalis also produced a detailed bill of quantities, detailed budget estimates, a building services design report incorporating all mechanical and electrical calculations, health and safety documentation, design review sheets and a detailed construction programme.
