The Cycling Strategy for Metropolitan Cork sought to improve accessibility and permeability within the Metropolitan Towns and between Metropolitan Cork and Cork City. Detailed cycling intervention plans were delivered for the key Metropolitan towns which included Ballincollig, Blarney, Tower, Carrigaline, Ringaskiddy, Cross Haven, Passage West, Glamire, Cobh, Midleton, Carrigtwohill and Little Island.
The study for the Active Travel Towns of Bandon, Fermoy, Youghal and Kinsale was carried out in tandem and included similar deliverables with both studies delivering route audits and mapping, extensive consultation and prioritised, costed and mapped implementation plans. The study incorporated recommendations for routes on the national cycle network and greenway routes on the abandoned rail network.
