Enniskerry Village is a picturesque village providing a tourist destination with the Powerscourt estate nearby. It is a village that becomes extremely congested at weekends, especially over the summer months. The village centre is arranged at the confluence of three roads which form a central triangle which accommodates a clock tower and landscaped area.

AtkinsRéalis was commissioned to undertake a study of the options for improving the sense of place and to improve the environment for vulnerable users (pedestrians and cyclists). Options were developed that reduced carriageway widths, widened footpaths, reduced vehicular speeds, introduced shared space junctions, reduced crossing widths, formalised and reduced on street parking providing new off street parking and relocation of bus layover facility away from the village centre. The preferred option was brought forward to preliminary design and Part 8 Planning approval. Services included PSDP and Road Safety Auditing.
