Local Infrastructure Housing Activation Fund (LIHAF) & Major Urban Housing Development Sites (MUHDS) Programme for Engineering Services
AtkinsRéalis were appointed consultant for Lot 1 for the LIHAF/MUHDS Programme. This project involves the provision of engineering services to Irish Water for the design and construction of water services infrastructure as part of the national LIHAF and MUHDS programme. LIHAF is a key element of the Irish Governments Pillar 3 of Rebuilding Ireland: An Action Plan for Housing & Homelessness. The objective of the LIHAF fund is to provide public off-site infrastructure to relieve critical infrastructure blockages. This will enable the accelerated delivery of housing on key development sites in urban areas with high demand for housing. In addition, the February 2017 Action Plan for Housing and Homelessness report identified 23 MUHDS with the capacity to deliver 30,000 new homes in the medium term in the Greater Dublin Area, Cork, Limerick and Galway. Our current appointment encompasses water and wastewater upgrades, from feasibility design through construction, across nine sites in Galway, Clare, Limerick, Cork, Waterford and Kilkenny and includes the provision of technical assurance services on third party designs and construction.
